Divide and Conquer

I picked up this rattan room divider at a stoop sale in Brooklyn today for only $10. I was so excited about the price because about two months ago I spotted a very similar looking room divider for $60 at the Park Slope flea market. I thought it would be a cool headboard for my bedroom. What do you think? I think I like it but worry it is too 1980s. I could also spray-paint it or fit it with fabric. Be honest...I won't be offended. I can always put it in the corner in my office to hide boxes and the orange moroccan table :)

If you hadn't pictured the divider with the bed, I would have definitely voted NO. But, when I scrolled down and took a look at the picture, I think it looks awesome. I'm so impressed at how you would see something like a divider and turn it into a headboard. And it looks so good. Amazing!! (I am Julie O's friend from H-town).

You so impress me. I love the divider as a headboard. Can you take some time off work to come decorate our house when it is finished?

Just cover it with a nice fabric that can be easily maintained from dust and it will look good on your bedroom. When you're tired of the look, you can either change the fabric or use it as it is.

It looks good, adds texture and interest to all the white (wall and bedding) and the neutral is a great compliment.

thanks for the memories! had nearly identical item throughout 90s in small Chelsea apt that served as room divider, clothes rack and, yes, head board!
